Northampton Commemorates 350 Years Since the Great Fire

A week of powerful community events will culminate in a spectacular finale on Saturday 20 September, as Northampton marks the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire with a full day of free activities in Market Square.

👑 HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh will join crowds for the closing celebration, which includes:

🕯️ A service at All Saints’ Church at 7.30pm featuring Rev Richard Coles
🎬 A premiere of a community-created animation at 1.30pm
🎶 Live music and DJ sets from Inspiration FM, Saphron, United African Association & more
🛍️ An extended Makers Market with artisan producers
🎨 Displays from Northamptonshire Police, Fire & Rescue, and local creatives
🍹 A bar by V&B and performances by the Bach Choir
🌆 A nightly light show on All Saints’ Church from 15–20 September
🎺 Fiori Musicali performing Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks on 18 September

This event is the grand finale of a five-month programme honouring the town’s resilience and spirit since the devastating blaze of 1675, which destroyed 700 buildings and reshaped Northampton’s future.
