WNC Social Care Assessment

West Northamptonshire Council has welcomed the Care Quality Commission’s first-ever assessment of its adult social care services, which gave an overall “Requires Improvement” rating at 59% — just 4% shy of “Good.” Three areas performed well, including safeguarding, partnerships and communities, and learning improvement and innovation.

The report highlights strong safeguarding processes, positive assessment experiences, inclusive and respectful care, and strong partnership working across health and voluntary sectors. It also identifies areas needing improvement, such as delays in annual reviews, rural access gaps, autism support, and pressures in mental health and CHC processes.

The Council is already acting on these findings through its ongoing improvement plan, focused on better access, reduced waiting times, stronger support for carers, improved advocacy, and enhanced prevention and therapy services.
