Protecting Children in Our Communities – #LookCloser

Children as young as six are being targeted and groomed by criminal groups across the UK — not just in big cities, but in towns and villages like ours. Around 46,000 children are believed to be involved in criminal exploitation, and many more are at risk.

Exploitation can happen anywhere blue (Meta) English)

We all have a part to play in spotting the signs and reporting concerns safely.

What to look out for

• A child travelling alone frequently or at unusual times
• Appearing lost, anxious, or frightened
• Carrying multiple phones or large amounts of cash
• Being controlled or directed by someone else
• Spending time with much older individuals
• Going missing or appearing in unfamiliar places

If you’re worried about a child

• 999 – if they are in immediate danger
• 101 – to report non‑urgent concerns
• Text 61016 – if you’re on the railway (British Transport Police)
• Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 – completely anonymous

You don’t need to be certain — if something doesn’t feel right, report it.

Let’s work together to help keep children safe.
