Brixworth Planning Committee has produced a set of practical guides to help residents prepare and submit planning applications. These resources are designed to make the process clearer, more accessible, and ensure that applications contain the right information for our councillors to make informed decisions.
Why Planning Guides?
When the Committee is consulted on applications, having complete and accurate details is essential. Well-prepared submissions allow councillors to properly assess proposals, consider their impact on the community, and provide constructive feedback to West Northamptonshire Council. The Committee often receive applications from WNC that do not have all the information we need to make an informed decision. This can cause delays and even objections to our decision being made.
Two Guides Available
To support residents, two tailored guides have been created:
- 📘 General Planning Applications Guide Covers the key steps and requirements for most types of planning applications, including extensions, alterations, and new developments.
🌳 Tree Works Planning Applications Guide Focuses specifically on applications involving trees, such as pruning, felling, or works within conservation areas.
Both guides are written in plain English, with tick-box checklists and clear explanations to help applicants avoid common mistakes.
Next Steps
Installation of these guides on the Parish Council website means residents can access them anytime. As applications are submitted, councillors will use the information provided to ensure decisions are fair, transparent, and well-informed.
