🎉 Celebrating the Restoration of the Brixworth Buttercross Monument

We are thrilled to announce the successful restoration of one of Brixworth’s most cherished historical landmarks — the Buttercross Monument!

Standing proudly in the heart of our village, the Buttercross has long been a symbol of Brixworth’s rich heritage. Originally serving as a market cross where locals traded butter, cheese, and eggs, the monument has witnessed centuries of community life, tradition, and transformation.

🛠️ A Labour of Love

The restoration project, carried out with the utmost care and respect for the monument’s historical significance, included:

  • Stonework repairs to address weathering and age-related damage
  • Gentle cleaning to remove moss and ingrained dirt, revealing the monument’s original beauty

The Buttercross now stands revitalized — a testament to Brixworth’s enduring spirit.

🏛️ Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future

Believed to date back to the medieval period, the Buttercross is more than just stone and craftsmanship — it’s a living piece of our village’s story. Its restoration ensures that future generations can continue to learn from and be inspired by our shared history.

📸 Join Us in Celebration

We invite everyone to visit the newly restored monument and share in this moment of pride. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a curious visitor, the Buttercross is a reminder of the beauty and resilience of our local heritage.

Let’s celebrate this milestone together — and continue to protect the treasures that make Brixworth truly special.

Fire Service launches web form for farmers to inform fire response

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service has launched a new way for farmers to tell the Service about information that can help to keep their land safe.

Fire crews are having to attend wildfires more regularly, particularly during dry spells of weather where field fires start more easily and spread quicker and further.

Now, a new digital form on the Fire Service website allows farmers to detail what water bowsers and machines are on site, access information, any nearby water supplies, and emergency contact details for those responsible for the land. This information will help crews should they be called to a fire on that land.

Group Manager Matt Butler said: “We hope farmers can spare a few minutes to fill in this form, which will help to shape our tactical plans when dealing with rural fires.

“Wildfires are a growing risk for the Fire Service, so we want to be proactive in working with farmers to ensure our plans to protect land and property across the county are robust.”

The form can be filled in on the NFRS website here. https://s-url.co/-dEiAA

Sadly, after careful consideration and exploring all available options, the team at Refill Revolution has made the difficult decision to retire Rita from service.
