December 2025 – Youth Council Christmas Visit – Pytchley Care Home! 🌼

This Christmas, our Youth Councillors had the incredible privilege of visiting the wonderful staff and residents at Pytchley Care Home. We were truly blown away by the warmth and kindness shown to us – the welcome was amazing!

During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting many of the wonderful residents, delivering beautifully designed cards created by our Youth Councillors, and gifting each resident a lovely daffodil planter for Christmas.

We can’t wait to see these bloom in the spring!

A massive shout-out to our Youth Council for their fantastic work and dedication – you made this evening so special. 💛 And a huge thank you to Sue and the team at Pytchley.

Youth Council’s First Action Brings Cleaner Play Area to Ashway Fields

One of the very first decisions made by the newly formed Brixworth Youth Council has already made a visible difference in the community.

During their early meetings, youth councillors raised concerns about the amount of litter being discarded around the play equipment at Ashway Playing Fields. They felt strongly that this was not only unsightly but also upsetting for children and families who use the park. Determined to take action, the Youth Council formally requested the installation of a new bin close to the play area.

The Parish Groundsmen quickly responded, installing the bin in a convenient location. Since then, littering around the play equipment has been much improved, creating a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for everyone.

This small but significant step highlights the Youth Council’s commitment to listening to young voices and turning their ideas into practical improvements for the village. It also demonstrates how empowering young people to take part in local decision-making can lead to positive, lasting change.

Youth Council and Cricket Club Team Up for Sweet Fundraiser

A brilliant idea has risen from a recent meeting of the Brixworth Youth Council, where representatives from Brixworth Cricket Club were invited to explore ways young people could support the club’s fundraising efforts.

The discussion was lively and full of community spirit, with youth councillors keen to contribute in a meaningful way. One standout suggestion—put forward during the meeting—was to host a cake sale to help raise funds for the Cricket Club Ground Purchase Fund.

The idea quickly gained momentum, and with support from the Cricket Club, the event was organised for Saturday 13th December, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Brixworth Library. Youth councillors will be baking and donating homemade cakes and treats, bringing energy, creativity, and generosity to the fundraiser.

This collaboration marks a fantastic example of intergenerational teamwork, with young people stepping up to support local sport and community development. It’s also a proud moment for the Youth Council, showing how their voices and ideas can lead to real-world impact.

Everyone is warmly encouraged to attend, enjoy some delicious homemade goodies, and support the future of cricket in Brixworth.
